Relationships

Relationships are based on the connections, associations, and changes you make with the people that you care about. Relationships exist on several different levels, and encompass your family, your friends, and other people you love and care about. Strong foundations for healthy relationships are based on a variety of factors, some of which include communication, trust, respect, responsibility, as well as having fun together and enjoying each others company.

Communication- While men and women have different ways of expressing themselves, it is important be open and honest in a relationship. Feelings shouldn’t keep things bottled up inside, you have to be willing to be open in order for a relationship to be successful and healthy. Listening to others is also very important (as well as being open to change). A relationship is a two-way street, and people have to work together to make things work.

Trust- Healthy relationships are also built around trust. The ability to rely on someone else in certain situations is important, and if you aren’t capable of believing in someone that you are in a relationship with, then something needs to change. However, trust cannot just be expected, one has to earn trust. You have to be open and honest with others, and you have to be able to come through for loved ones when given certain tasks and responsibilities. This will illustrate trust and respect.

Respect- If you are in a relationship with someone else, you have to like them for who they are. Respect within a relationship illustrates the fact that you value the person that you are with and that you understand the beliefs and the boundaries that they set forth. At the same time, both parties involved in a relationship have to open to some flexibility. If problems arise within a relationship, or certain responsibilities are questioned, then you have to be open enough to try and mend the situation at hand.
